We have built 5 homes in 3 states, working with Brian was easily the most pleasant of our home-building experiences. He is a true professional and the result has more than met our expectations. One real benefit was that Brian was both designer and builder, so he fully understood the intent of the design and we avoided any architect-builder misunderstandings. Some attributes Brian brought to the process:

1. Listening. Brian listened closely as we expressed our needs and wants for a new home. We spent several sessions in his office brainstorming, discussing alternatives, revising plans and selecting materials. The result was a design that we were all well satisfied with.

2. Patient and Polite. Brian is unfailingly polite, a true gentleman, who was patient as we came up with new ideas, or changed the placement of a window, or the color of paint. At midpoint, we decided to add a third dormer, and he was able to rework the plans with a minimum of disruption and additional cost. He also knew when to gently draw the boundaries on chantges, without being offensive.

3. Creative. With a degree in design, Brian has an excellent eye for scale and proportion. He offered many ideas that made the home unique and interesting. Our mantle and bead wall were his idea and they made the family room special and carried through that cottage feeling. The open soffits were an extra expense, but they clearly make the house look special.

4. Use of Material. As the house took shape, it was evident that Brian was using the best materials and the construction was top quality. We wanted a maintenance-free home, and he selected top grade vinyl shakes with a good warranty. He knew what would hold up in the salty sea air and sun, and what would not. Hurricane windows were another practical decision he helped us make.

5. Cost. Brian was very sensitive to the overall cost as we went along, and suggested places to save money without jeopardizing the quality of the house. We felt continually informed about the financial situation and his being willing to work with us, without padding the bottom line.

6. Follow Through. We had very few issues after the house was complete; the punch list was short. However, when we did need to call Brian, he was vry responsive and problems were handled quickly and professionally. Brian is proud of his work and stands behind it.
